About WawonaMoon
Our cabin is named after the song-title, Wawona Moon, written in 1925 by Kenneth Hall, singer with the Wawona Hotel Orchestra that played for dances at the hotel through the '20s and early '30s. We started using the title as a business name in September, 1999, and attached it to our Wawona cabin in July, 2015. The song's first recording is by Wawona Hotel musician, Tom Bopp (yeah, that's me), in Vintage Songs Of Yosemite - The DVD available at www.yosemitemusic.com
The logo is adapted from a graphic created around 1918 by Grace Brinkop Washburn, wife of Clarence Washburn who managed the Wawona Hotel from 1917 to 1934.
WawonaMoon Cabin is designed by architect Patrice Jensen of Oakhurst, CA, and constructed by Randy Papike of that town.
Wawona Moon
Beautiful Sierra night, underneath Sierra skies;
Every star a jewel bright; surely this is paradise.
Wawona Moon above, you're shining down on me;
You know that I'm in love;
Your light brings ecstasy!
A-gleaming through the pines,
Your golden face I see;
O shine forever, my Wawona Moon,
Upon my love and me!
